The Uniform Gap
The School Supply Most Drives Miss.
Before the first bell, families face the bill.
Across Philadelphia public schools, uniforms and school-specific dress requirements are a standard back-to-school expense for families. Help fill the gap between what public school requires and what families can afford.

An Overlooked Back-To-School Need
Public school requires it. Families still have to afford it.
Requirements vary by school and grade and may include specific colors, shirts, pants, sweaters, gym clothes, footwear and school-approved pieces.
That makes uniforms difficult to address through a traditional clothing drive. A donated shirt may be the wrong color. A pair of pants may not fit. A student may still need a sweater, gym uniform or school-branded item.
A required expense can become a significant family bill.
A simple starting rotation of two polos, two pairs of pants and one sweater can exceed $100 before shoes, gym clothes or school-branded pieces are added.
For families already balancing groceries, rent, utilities and the needs of growing children, that is not a small purchase.
How Your Gift Reaches Families
The right support, directed where it is needed.
Life Science Cares Philadelphia stewards campaign gifts and works through trusted nonprofit partners that are already connected to families with identified school-uniform needs.
Our Community Gives
Individuals and companies contribute flexible campaign dollars rather than one-size-fits-all clothing donations.
Partners Identify Need
Trusted nonprofit partners working directly with families help identify the students, sizes and school requirements involved.
Families Get The Right Items
Support can respond to the correct colors, pieces, sizes and school-approved requirements before classes begin.
Timing Matters
Families need time to find the right pieces.
The goal is not simply to hand out clothing. It is to give families enough flexibility and time to purchase what their children’s public schools actually require.
A gift now allows our nonprofit partners to connect support with families while stores still have the correct sizes and students still have time to prepare.
