About the Life Science Cares Holiday Toy Drive

For parents struggling financially, providing gifts to their children over the holidays is well beyond their reach. Help these families by participating in the LSC Holiday Toy Drive!

All toys are donated to the LSC nonprofit partner, Home Start. Home Start’s mission is to help children in San Diego living in poverty. Home Start serves more than 17,000 individuals through programs such as housing, employment services, mental health support, and basic needs support that help ensure parents are able to take good care of their children.

Every year, LSC invites our corporate partners to hold a toy drive in their office to ensure the families of Home Start are able to provide their children with holiday presents. All toys are distributed at a day-long toy drive event, where parents in need are able to “shop” all the donated toys and select the specific toys they would like to gift to their child.

How to participate in the Life Science Cares Holiday Toy Drive

• REGISTER: To officially register, fill out this form. 
• SHARE THE DRIVE WITH YOUR TEAM: 
  • Print out the attached flyer to hang up in your office. 
  • Share info on the food drive with your team using this template email. 
• COLLECT TOYS: Your team may collect toys in your office and bring them to Home Start, and/or shop an Amazon wish list to have the toys sent directly to Home Start.
  • Collecting toys in your office: You can use the registration link above to request to have cardboard bins dropped off at your office at the beginning of the drive. 
  • Mailing toys directly to Home Start: Use this link: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/NIOSXQ36F4NC . Select “TOY DRIVE’s Gift Registry Address” during checkout. If you would like LSC to track donations by your team, please ask your team members to list your company name in the gift message under gift options.
• DROP OFF DONATIONS:
  • Please plan to drop off all the toys collected in your office at Home Start (5005 Texas Street San Diego, CA 92108). When dropping off toys, you can just pull into the parking lot, and there will be volunteers there to help you unload your car. 
  • Toys may be dropped off at the following times:
    • December 5th 11:00 – 1:30 pm
    • December 7th 3:30 – 5:30 pm
    • December 8th 3:30 – 5:30 pm
  • If your team does not have the capacity to drop off your toy donations, LSC Staff can pick them up for you. Please keep in mind that LSC staff has limited capacity, so we encourage our partners to do the drop off if they are able to.
• VOLUNTEER: 
  • Volunteer! Volunteers are needed at the toy drop-off to receive and sort toys, and at the toy drive event, to assist families in finding toys. Want to volunteer? Email: [email protected]
