Building on the success of our recent Impact Night, where Life Science Cares New York celebrated the outstanding contributions of our volunteers, corporate partners, and nonprofit leaders, we are excited to announce the nine community-based nonprofit organizations selected to receive a total of $225,000 in grant support, volunteer engagement, and strategic resources over the next year.
This year, we are proud to fund organizations across the New York metro area that are driving meaningful change in critical areas such as environmental justice, food security, maternal and infant health, mental healthcare, housing, economic mobility, and expanding access to STEM education and careers. By supporting these efforts, we address the unique challenges faced by our local communities and advance our mission of reducing poverty and creating lasting impact in the region.
“Each of these organizations is supporting a key pillar of the New York city community, creating a stronger, healthier and more equitable life for all its members,” said Kyle Carver, CFO at Evommune. “We are honored to support their mission, which aligns with our industry’s focus on bettering human health.”
The recipients of the 2024 Life Science Cares New York nonprofit partner grants include: The Bronx is Blooming (Bronx), BioBus (West Harlem), HYPOTHEkids (West Harlem), CCNY CiPASS (Hamilton Heights), Nido de Esperanza (Washington Heights), East New York Farms (Brooklyn), The Bridge Community Foundation (Bronx), Communitas Americas (West Harlem), and NewBridge Services (Parsippany, NJ). Each of these organizations will receive between $15,000 and $35,000 in General Operating support to be used in 2025.
Marisa Mitchell, Executive Director of HYPOTHEkids, and third time grantee, spoke to the impact of our grantmaking program: “Through its generous support of HYPOTHEkids and consistent presence as a force for good within New York’s burgeoning life science community, Life Science Cares has truly lived up to its name. Their annual grants have enabled HYPOTHEkids to expose more students from low-resource schools and communities to free STEAM education and training opportunities, and their network of industry professionals has been an invaluable source of volunteer speakers who help guide and inspire our young trainees.”
Life Science Cares New York was founded in November 2022, and in just two years, we’ve already accomplished so much! We’ve granted $370K to nonprofit organizations, expanded our network to 25 nonprofit partners and 21 corporate partners, and facilitated over 2,000 hours of volunteer service to date. We’ve organized everything from donation drives and tree planting events to engaging lunch-and-learn sessions, networking mixers, and life-changing career and educational opportunities for under-resourced college students. Our impact is already being felt, and it’s clear that we are building something truly special. The progress we’ve made so far is just the beginning, and we are excited for what’s next!
