Impact event honored life science companies and individuals who exemplify LSC’s efforts to give back to the local community
News | [Cambridge, MA April 7, 2025]—Life Science Cares (LSC) Boston, a nonprofit collective effort of the life science industry to disrupt the cycle of poverty and inequality in the greater Boston area, today announced that it raised more than $500,000 during its 9th annual Impact Breakfast. The event brought together more than 500 leaders across the life sciences and healthcare industries to support Life Science Cares and to recognize individuals and companies making an impact in the community.
As a philanthropic arm of the life science industry, LSC Boston provides grants to nonprofit organizations who are working in the areas of basic needs, economic opportunity, education, and health equity. In addition to financial support, LSC’s innovative model provides hands-on support to its nonprofit partners by connecting volunteers and in-kind contributions from the life science industry to help to further their missions and deepen the impact.
“It’s continually amazing to see how much our industry has stepped up to help—and the immense impact we can make with our collective philanthropy model at LSC Boston,” said Peter Pedro, chair of the Life Science Cares Boston Board of Managers. “Having supported almost a hundred nonprofit organizations with nearly $12 million in grants is testament to what we can do when we come together. Now more than ever, our dollars, volunteerism, in-kind donations, and advocacy are needed to ensure our neighbors have access to food, shelter, medical care, education, and opportunities that reduce the impacts of poverty and inequality in our communities.”
