The year 2023 has been challenging for many life science companies; but if it has been difficult for corporations, imagine how tough it has been for grassroots nonprofits and their clients. That’s why Life Science Cares Bay Area decided to continue to be bold in our giving.

Life Science Cares Bay Area is proud to share that we awarded $1M in funding to 16 extraordinary local nonprofits, a 25% increase in giving over 2022. And our relationships with the grantees go beyond one-time financial assistance. We supercharge our giving with human capital through volunteerism and thought partnership, as well as in-kind donations. We look forward to collaborating with and supporting the needs of our “nonprofit partners” over the course of the next year.

Our mission across Life Science Cares – with affiliates in biotech hubs including Boston, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, and the San Francisco Bay Area – is to activate the financial and human capital of the life sciences industry and partner with nonprofit organizations to disrupt the cycle of poverty and inequality in our communities. Ultimately, we envision all of our neighbors having access to basic needs, access to education and access to opportunity.

Here in the Bay Area, we are grateful to all who have contributed to our success – the 50+ life science companies that have joined our mission, as well as our insightful board members.
