Childhood hunger contributes to a generational cycle of poverty

Nearly 50% of students in San Diego County rely on free or reduced-price meals provided in schools. During the summer these meals are unavailable.

The Life Science Community is Uniting Together to Help. During the month of June, companies across the life science industry are holding food drives in their offices. On June 21st, the industry will come together to bring all food donations to Feeding San Diego.

Registration to join the Life Science Cares food drive is now closed.

Agenda for the June 21st, 2023 Closing Event for the Food Drive:

Dropping off food:

Food may only be dropped off on 6/21 between 12-2:45 pm. When you arrive there will be signs directing you to the drive through food drop off in the parking lot of Feeding San Diego (you can see this drop off in the map above). There will be volunteers to assist you unloading food donations from your car. You may then park your car in any of locations detailed in the map above and participate in the closing event activities!

Check In:

Upon arriving at the food drive please check in with the Life Science Cares team.

If you are participating in the 3:30 – 5:30 volunteer activity inside Feeding San Diego sorting and packing food donations, you will need to complete a brief sign in at check in. Please be sure you have already registered to reserve a shift for this event here. If you have not pre-registered at the link, there may not be space available during this shift for you to volunteer. Upon signing in, you will need to fill out a waiver. You can preview this waiver here
