About the Life Science Cares Holiday Adopt a Family Program

The Barrio Logan College Institute‘s (BLCI) mission is to support youth in becoming the first generation college student in their family. To date, 100% of BLCI students enroll in college. BLCI works with students in low-income communities in San Diego to help community members break the cycle of poverty through higher educational attainment.

Every holiday season, BLCI staff identify the families they support that are most in need of financial help. LSC invites our corporate partners to “adopt” one of these families this holiday, to help ensure they receive critical items for their families, as well as holiday gifts.

When your team signs up to adopt a family, you will receive a brief description of the family, and a list of items they would like to receive for the holidays. Each family’s list is around $1000. Your team can then shop the list, wrap the presents, and coordinate getting the items to the families (with support from LSC). Many times, our partners have the opportunity to meet the family in person when dropping off the gifts! Additional details and options in the registration link below.

Presents to be delivered during the week of 12/11. LSC will connect you with BLCI to schedule the delivery. All deliveries will be in either Barrio Logan, El Cajon, or Chula Vista.

How to participate in the Life Science Cares Adopt a Family Program.

• REGISTER: To officially register, fill out this form.
• RECEIVE THE FAMILY’S WISH LIST: Upon registration LSC will contact you and get you the wish list for the family (or families) your team has adopted.  
• ACQUIRE THE ITEMS ON THE LIST: Your team can decide the best way to coordinate fulfilling the wish list.
• WRAP THE GIFTS: Please wrap the presents, and label them with the name of the person who asked for the gift. (Names are provided in the wish lists)
• DROP OFF THE GIFTS: LSC and BLCI will work with you to coordinate a drop off of the gifts in either Barrio Logan, Chula Vista, or El Cajon. LSC staff may be available to do the drop off, but we HIGHLY encourage our partners to do the drop off.
