News | [Cambridge, MA March 5, 2025]—On Monday, April 7, Life Science Cares (LSC) Boston will gather 400+ life science industry employees during its 9th Annual Impact Breakfast to raise funds and inspire action to alleviate the effects of poverty in Boston. The event calls on local life science companies and their employees to raise critical dollars to support LSC’s work in the Greater Boston community.
Beginning at 7:30am at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, the Impact Breakfast will feature an empowering line-up of local leaders, who will reflect on ways to unravel poverty and what is needed from the life science industry to further its positive social impact. Panelists will include Alister Martin, founder and CEO of A Healthier Democracy, and Robyn Riseberg, founder of and pediatrician at Boston Community Pediatrics. Attendees will also hear from LSC Founder Rob Perez, Boston Board Chair Peter Pedro, and Boston Board Vice Chair Jeb Keiper.
“We are incredibly grateful for all our industry has done and the collective impact we’ve made throughout the Greater Boston area over the last nine years,” said Peter Pedro, chair of the Life Science Cares Boston Board of Managers. “As we approach our tenth year, now more than ever, the need is there for us to do more—to come together to make a positive impact through our grants, volunteer engagement, and advocacy to ensure our neighbors have access to food, shelter, medical care, education, and opportunities that sustainably break the cycle of poverty.”
Proceeds from the Impact Breakfast will support community nonprofits that are providing critical access to basic needs, education, economic opportunity, and health equity. LSC and its corporate partners then supercharge these grants with volunteer hours, donated goods, strategic support, and advocacy. Since its founding in 2016, LSC Boston has worked with more than 500 companies to distribute nearly $12 million in grants to 98 community-based nonprofit partner organizations in the Greater Boston area. LSC Boston has organized more than 13,000 volunteers to direct more than 39,000 hours of community service to community-based organizations, in addition to more than $2 million of in-kind donations.
The event is supported by presenting sponsor Takeda, gold sponsor Cooley LLP, silver sponsors Blueprint Medicines and Thermo Fisher Scientific, and bronze sponsors Agios, Beam Therapeutics, Collegium Pharmaceutical, J.P. Morgan, PwC, Sanofi, Trinity Life Sciences, and WilmerHale.
