Team of 22 life science executives prepared to hike the North Cascade Mountains in Washington State to benefit Life Science Cares next week
Not only will they reach geographic great heights, the 2024 Timmerman Traverse team is nearing their goal of raising $1 million to fight poverty and inequity in five life science industry hubs. They’re not done yet—the team continues their outreach and training right up until the August 19th kickoff and through the end of the month, with about $100,000 left to go.
“We are making a difference for people in our communities. We’re opening doors to opportunity. We’re working as catalysts for giving within biotech,” said Luke Timmerman, founder of the biotech journalism outlet Timmerman Report and the Timmerman Traverse, in a recent note to the team. “That is our North Star when we’re sweating on the trail. And that is the North Star when we reach out to our networks for their support.”
The 4th annual Traverse is a two-day, 20+ mile hike across the North Cascade Mountains in Washington State and this year will include 22 industry leaders, each of whom raised a minimum of $25,000 benefitting Life Science Cares and its network of nonprofit partners dedicated to serving communities in Greater Boston, Philadelphia, New York, San Diego, and the Bay Area.
“In my work, I have the honor of meeting incredibly generous and talented people every single day. But the leaders who step up for the Timmerman Traverse are a truly unique group. Their commitment to each other and to our community is inspiring and the entire LSC network is cheering them on,” said Sarah MacDonald, CEO of Life Science Cares.
Along with presenting sponsors KCap Biotechnology Fund and Fenwick, lead sponsors include HSBC, Evercore, Menarini Stemline, Royalty Pharma and Sarepta.
