We did it! Together, we collected 2,239 cartons of shelf-stable milk for Food for Free’s Cambridge Backpack Program. That’s more than one month’s work of milk to go home in the backpacks of children who experience food insecurity when they’re not at school.

Thanks to our hosts at Ironwood, Dimension Therapeutics, Mass Life Science Center, Ivenix, Gunderson Dettmer, Spero Therapeutics, Xtuit, Wave Life Sciences & Sobi for collecting milk. A special shout out to Alexandria Real Estate, which not only collected goods in their buildings in Cambridge, but also stepped up with a huge donation themselves.

What’s next? We do MORE!

Life Science Cares will coordinate industry-wide drives for:

NOVEMBER—NEW Winter Coats, Hats, Gloves, Boots & Socks to benefit CASPAR (adult sizes) and Chelsea’s Browne Middle School/Citizen Schools (kid’s sizes)

JANUARY—Kitchen Supplies (details to be shared with host sites) to support The Cookbook Project through Citizen Schools

We’ll be finalizing the specifications and timelines for these drives very soon, and will be sure to use the lessons we’ve learned the first time around to make things even easier for our hosts. Consider being a host site and helping us reach our collective goals!
