On Monday, May 23, Life Science Cares (LSC) Boston will gather 1,000+ life science industry employees during its 6th Annual Impact Breakfast to raise funds and inspire action to alleviate the effects of poverty in Boston. With the theme “What Will it Take?”, the in-person and livestream event calls on local life science companies and their employees to raise critical dollars to support LSC’s work in the Greater Boston community.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge and via a live stream to LSC sponsors, the Impact Breakfast will feature an empowering line-up of local leaders, who will reflect on ways to unravel poverty and repair its effects on our communities. Panelists will include Jo Viney, Founder, President and CEO of Seismic Therapeutic; Sandra M. McCroom, President and Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Services of Roxbury; Bonnie Bertolaet, Ph.D., Executive Director with Science Club for Girls; and Jaykyri Simpson, MBA, Ed.D. of Young Man with a Plan. Attendees will also hear from Life Science Cares Founder and Chairman Rob Perez, Boston Board Chair Abe Ceesay, and President Sarah MacDonald.

“We are grateful for all of our LSC partners and volunteers who have helped make a collective impact throughout Boston over the years,” Sarah MacDonald said. “This year’s Impact Breakfast is an exciting opportunity for us to come together – virtually and in person once again! – and ask ourselves, ‘How will we reach our goal of ensuring our neighbors are healthy and well? What can we do, together, to bring an end to poverty in Boston?

The in-person event is sold out, but virtual sponsorship is available. Proceeds from the Impact Breakfast will support community nonprofits that are providing critical access to basic needs, education, and opportunity. LSC and its corporate partners then supercharge these grants with volunteer hours, donated goods, strategic support, and advocacy. Since its founding in April 2016, LSC Boston has worked with more than 500 companies to distribute nearly $6 million to nonprofit partner organizations. In addition, LSC Boston has directed more than 20,000 hours of community service from volunteers from the sector.
